Last week I was privileged enough to attend a free art lecture from friend and fellow porn lover Paul Richards at The Gnomon Workshop. During which much was discussed about the finer details of depicting the female form. At one point I believe there was an analogy made between that of sexy hair and dripping syrup. An idea that I later couldn't get out of my head...

Ero-mangaka Spotlight - Thomas

Every once in a while I'm going to feature an ero-mangaka that I feel deserves a little more attention, or exposure - at least outside of a mostly Japanese audience anyways. It can be hard enough as it is to find, and keep track of, quality hentai artists. Hopefully this will help those of you who are looking for the good stuff. This week I'm going to focus on Thomas, of circle Hujiya Honten. My wife picked up this lovely tankobon of his, "Sweet Lip" for me at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles earlier this month.

This is Thomas' second collected works of anthology entries (and/or other publications), and it is entirely breathtaking. Exquisitely well drawn and presented, "Sweet Lip" is a masterfully artistic display of erotic intensity and fellatious females.

These are fun. I'm still trying to find a balance between the ero-mangaka that inspire me, and my own style. I feel like I am too heavily influenced by western design sensibilities to pull off any kind of convincing anime styles. Yet, trying to find this compromise between the two - while retaining a cute playfulness - remains a constant challenge. Oh yeah, and trying to draw something that doesn't look like shit too.
